From concept to completion, we have all the expertise and experience you'll need to help you get your next idea off of the drawing board and into the marketplace.

Microfluidics enables the development of smaller, faster, more cost-effective and more powerful instruments.

From concept to reality...

From concept to reality

The starting point of many instrument design projects is a feasibilty study, to demonstrate that the concept works at the microscale. Next, 3D product concepts, system schematics and cost estimates are generated to ensure that scope of the project is well understood by all. Following design approval, Dolomite will then develop all the software, control and mechanical systems and devices required for the end product. The final deliverable can be a fully engineered instrument with complete manufacturing data pack ready for production.

Here are just a few of the diverse applications that can be addressed using microfluidic technology developed by Dolomite for microscale manipulation of fluids, small organisms, microbeads, cells and even molecules:

  • Chemical cytometry
  • Chip-based capillary electrophoresis
  • Coated microbead manipulation
  • Nanoparticle synthesis
  • Droplet formation
  • Cell sorting
  • DNA analysis
  • Environmental testing
  • Micro fuel cell hydrogen generation
  • Emulsion formation
  • Protein crystallization
  • Single cell isolation

some of the many benefits...

  • Reduction in sample volume and reagent usage
  • Improved control of fluid mixing and heating
  • Access to a wide range of fluid geometries
  • Ability to run reaction and analysis processes faster
  • Rapid mass transfer as a result of high surface-to-volume ratios
  • Excellent reproducibility and consistency of results due to low Reynolds numbers
  • Improved integration of process steps, for example, reactions, separations and detection methods.

In spec and on time...

Activities at Dolomite are structured into projects that are managed with our proprietary Fan Guard system. This system ensures accurate tracking of milestones and project performance. Project progress is reported internally on a weekly basis allowing problems to be flagged and resolved as early as possible.
